81 Senior High is located in East Jakarta. Established in 20 November 1968, it was initially a laboratory school under the Institute of Teaching and Education of Jakarta, now The State University of Jakarta. In 1986 it changed the name to 81 High School of Jakarta.
The school has received many recognitions from a large number of institutions inside and outside Indonesia for both academic and non-academic achievements. The condition makes the local government entitled it as national/international plus standard school based on the decree issued by the Head of Local Education Department. In June 15, 2007 a decree letter from Directorate of Secondary School Development of the Ministry of Education claimed the school as the pioneer of International Standard School.
In the same year, Cambridge University certified it as a Cambridge International Centre (CIC) ID112. Thus, allowing 81 to conduct international tests, IGCSE and GCE. Many schools in Indonesia have sent their students to take IGCSE and GCE. Additionally, TUV SUD institution from Germany certified the school with ISO 9001-2008 making the school administration level with the international standards.
